Remember how last week was about pasta? Quick change! This week, I want to get you excited in a different way. I want to talk about how we’re in a golden era (if at times odd) of pleasure. Women’s pleasure, yes (see immediately below), but I’d offer that we’re more able to talk about and prioritize all kinds of pleasure these days.

Sex, like money, is a funny thing to talk about. There’s so much wrapped up in it. It’s hush-hush and I can agree with that, to a point. Mystery, no more than a wink at what goes on behind closed doors, that’s all good. But in the same way that salary transparency is becoming much more of a thing, I feel that sex transparency should too. Why shouldn’t we talk about what works, what we’ve tried and what we’re curious about? Blush a little…who cares!? For example, a friend recently told me to take a ‘sparkling pear’ gummy 30 minutes beforehand to quiet the mind abd get into my body a little more. What a good rec! (…ahem, I had those gummies delivered so fast.)

You could start with books. YEP, I said books. My own haphazard curriculum has been as follows: Circe, Cassandra Speaks, Three Women, and then Come As You Are. The effect was empowerment followed by dismantling a lot of limiting beliefs and behaviors followed by learning the anatomy and nuance of women’s minds and bodies, including of course my own. And I got not just permission to put it into practice in the real world, but encouragement. I’m not your professor, so take what you want from that, leave the rest. Other books that have been recommended to me include: The Pleasure Gap, Love Worth Making, and The Body is Not an Apology.

Did you just yawn? Fine, here’s non-book stuff.
